PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

Doug Karmel has 25 years of professional experience in industrial engineering, specializing in physical distribution and control, material handling systems and facilities planning. His areas of expertise include development and implementation of state-of-the-art process automation and automated handling and storage systems. He possesses the expertise and vision required to utilize new technologies in achieving practical, cost-effective, system solutions. Doug has designed manufacturing and distribution systems in many industries, including food, pharmaceutical, retail, consumer goods, automotive, and printing & publishing.

Prior to joining NKF Consulting, Mr. Karmel served as Senior Vice President of the Manufacturing, Distribution, and Logistics Business Unit for Facility Group Inc. While there, Mr. Karmel was responsible for leading all logistics and facility design teams in the complete understanding of the client’s current operations and future strategic needs. Working closely with the client and Facility Group’s in-house logistics and design teams, Mr. Karmel provides assurance that a cost-effective, functional facility is designed to meet the specialized needs of clients from the food, retail, wholesale and manufacturing industries.

EDUCATION:

Mr. Karmel received his Master of Arts in Business Management from Central Michigan University.  He also received his Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
